Small But Incredibly Effective Landing Page Design Changes to Improve Your Profit Margin

By Pinky Arnisola

When you spend some time thinking about it, it's easy to see that the things that are responsible for whether or not a landing page converts are pretty simple. All landing pages are made up of all of the same basic components: words and images. The things that you need to figure out, and it might take some help, is the way that you should combine those elements to get the job done. You need to reach people's emotions--their hearts and soul. But do not confuse that with being deceptive; not at all. Try to remember that buying decisions are solely emotionally based and that you are selling something with your own. You have to figure out what your audience finds the most important and how to combine that with those two important elements to better "speak" with the people who read you.

You do know the decision to remain or make an immediate exit from any kind of site is made in just a few seconds after arrival. We may not like this, but it's the reality of the fast paced internet. When someone decides to exit your page, this can be for many possible reasons. The first thing that most visitors will notice on your landing page is your headline, which makes this perhaps the single most critical factor of all. While some marketers try to be funny or cryptic with their headlines, you'll get better results by telling people what your message is really about. If people find a headline too hard to figure out, they're likely to just click away, so be as clear and direct as possible.

There are a lot of people who no longer appreciate being commanded to do something, right now. Your call to action is better served by including words and phrases like "trying" and "learning more", etc. "Download!" or "Download Now!" has the opportunity to really turn people off but "Learn More!" will feel far less in your face. Still, work hard not to use words that might be confusing or too vague.

There is so much more to landing pages than people realize and a new Internet marketer usually doesn't have any idea about this. It is no surprise, then, when a landing page doesn't get the job done or really underperforms for them. When you do not have a solid grasp on the unique nature of landing pages and the dynamic involved, then you are almost shooting in the dark.

You already know how incredibly important it is for the people who read your landing page to feel like they can trust you. We've explored some devices and different elements to help that happen. Of course, where you apply them is also going to affect your conversions. It is important that you do everything you can to make sure that all of the things that will help people trust you are easy to see. This means they need to be at "eye level." So, rather than using those testimonials at the bottom of your page, where they will feel like an after thought, put them higher up. You certainly want them to be above the fold in all cases, yet they should not appear to be an annoyance. Even though it may seem like there is a ton to learn about excellent landing page design, there really is not. But it's plausible that if you're new you might feel differently. The really important thing is to simply immerse yourself in the educational process. It's important to know why things get done the way they do and that is the only way that you are going to know what you need to do for your audience.

I'm very interested to learn more about landing page design. I love web design but all I know I learned by myself. If I want to work as freelancer as a web designer do I need some kind of degree?
