Web Design in a Nutshell

When you go hunting for a decent web designer, you must make your choice count, because once your website is up on the web, it's too late for regrets. For a decent web designer, you want to find a corporation that can do a ton more for you than simply design a Web site.

I was going to assert "because the design is only the 1st step" BUT . . . It isn't even that! It's just one of the steps, and the design should be considered after some other considerations have been covered. Were you aware what these are? Because if you don't, then a so-called website designer could just pull the wool over your eyes and sell you a lemon.

- So what do you have to understand?
- These are some examples of the things which your first discussion with a web site designer, should cover:
- How will my site help me get more patrons?
- How will my web site help me to run my business better?
- What's my promotional system going to be?
- What other resources will I use together with my new net site?
- And how will those resources work together for best effect?

You are likely to want to hear some horse-sense and easy-to-understand answers to these questions. If you are undecided, then ask for full information or clarification on what you have been told. Because if you cannot understand it, at least generally, then it probably is not going to work for you. But do not think that this indicates that the design isn't crucial "as it is.

Color: Slipshod use of color can make a Net site look uninteresting and un-inviting, or too bright. Uninteresting colours or dearth of contract of colors can make your website plain boring, while too much color can make it confusing and difficult to follow.

Words: Enormous pieces of straight text words with no formatting and no photographs also leads to a "turn-off" site. Most people nowadays see large blocks of words and their eyes glaze over. So they just go on.

Layout: A slipshod layout or too much clutter can make a net site difficult to read and make people need to find another site that is simpler to follow.

Simplicity of Selling: One thing that lots of successful business owners know is that it doesn't hurt to ask your current shoppers for referrals. The incontrovertible fact that they have experience handling you and they are prepared to attest for you shows future customers something. Don't be too forceful when you ask them to give you an endorsement.

Ask in a polite fashion, and as a kind gesture, you need to offer them some form of motivation. Getting your internet site more traffic is what having a successful business is fundamentally about. There is not any way you can get more customers if no one knows that you're there. You must do your very best to have your URL placed on everything from business cards to flyers and everything in between.

Even if folks visit your website out of curiosity, they may stay if something catches their eye. Navigation (menus) that are difficult to find and use, lack of clear directions for what you need the reader to do or read, no Call-To-Action. Get these things wrong and it'll drive readers to get a web site that's less complicated for them to use.

Finding a superb Website Designer which will get the design right should be easy enough. Finding one who also understands Selling Methods and Business Tools is another story!

So ask the most relevant questions and look for concise answers! For Example:

- How will my website become a vital element of my business? Typically, this should be more than only "providing info about your products".
- How will my business get more enquiries or sales as a simple result of the site?
- How will I market and plug my Internet site? There are numerous posible answers, so be certain they make sense to you.
- And make sure that they will work for you.
- How will people find my web site? This is a different question, and should have different answers.

If you are truly fortunate, the web advisor that you ultimately select may take the discourse outside of Site Design and into other related or tangential areas of your business operation. That's when you know that you're actually getting good value for money from your web designer!
