Web Designing Done the Right Way

By Regina Ng

There is a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to making a website intended for business purposes. You do have to pay particular attention to design elements if the site will be for business activities. We will talk about the more important considerations for website design that must not be ignored.

As you very well may imagine, how you set-up your site navigation is incredibly important. Site planning is tremendously important because you do not want your site looking like the navigation was an after-thought.

Your navigation shouldn't be confusing nor inconsistent, but rather should be in a flow. How easy and intuitive your navigation is will affect the area known as usability, and that is something every site has to get right. When your navigation is crooked, your overall site's design tends to look broken, which doesn't give a good impression to your visitors.

This could be the main graphic, the company logo or simply a link on the header that leads the visitor to the homepage upon clicking. Not including this on each page will just confuse your visitors as they search around a way to go back to the homepage. If you lack consistency with link placement, people probably will get the feeling the site is unprofessional. This has turned into a web standard, as most of the web users now by default expect to return back to the main page of the website by clicking on the logo on the top left corner.

Another consideration is browser loading time, and if you are doing SEO then that is important. If you really do want to use flash on your homepage, then make sure you have a link to an individual HTML page where your content is listed out. There are a lot of people who prefer to avoid dealing with Flash completely on webpages, so the external link to content may be a good idea. Remember that the overall impression people have of your website will be the sum total of every small decision you make, so nothing should be ignored when it comes to designing your site.
