Make Sure You Have All Your Facts Together When Creating Websites

By Iva Cannon

With the way the world is turning out everyone needs to have some basic knowledge of computers and websites. Especially if one is in a business and trying to reach potential customers all over the world. This is where creating websites can be very beneficial. For those that are new to this, don't worry there are so many sites that are willing to help set it up for a minimal fee each month.

The first thing that needs to be done is to get a domain name. This is a name that will be given to the site and one will have to pay an annual fee in order for that name to be registered. This will also ensure that no one else can use that name besides you. This does not mean that one will be getting a website it is more like having to register a business and does not mean one will be getting a premise with it.

The minimum requirement to run WordPress is having a PHP, which is a popular general purpose scripting language of 5.4 or larger. The other is having a MySQL which is a language for accessing, adding and managing content in databases. It is proven to be quick in processing, easy to use as well as flexible and reliable. This needs to be greater than 5.5 for this program to run smoothly.

When WordPress is running and is using ones account username instead of the server's default shared username it is proven to be more secure. The most commonly used with hosting companies is suPHP. It is also recommended that Apache or Nginx be used but it is not a necessity.

WordPress started in two thousand and three with only a single code which was used to enhance writing. There were so few users that both fingers and toes would be too many. Over the years it has grown to be one of the leading self-hosting blogging tools worldwide. It is used by millions of people every day and on millions of sites as well.

It is a platform where one is able to use for free without having to pay a monthly subscription or licence fee. It started as a blogging system but has progressed into a full content management system or CMS. It is only limited by ones imagination and has thousands of widgets, themes and plugins that can be used.

A widget is a term used for a part of a program interface that uses the computers graphic capabilities. It helps the user to understand a complicated command language that could be very time consuming to learn. A plugin is a way to add and expand a function that already exists in the programme. These help to custom features and functions so that one's site can meet particular needs.

If the business is going to sell a product one will need to have a way to collect the credit card information or PayPal. This will need to be very secure otherwise no one will want to use it. There are many sites that will give one a step by step tutorial on how to include this on to the webpage.
