How To Avoid A Fake New York Web Design Company

By Amanda Baird

There is no shortage of web design and development companies in the US, and New York is no exception. With so many top rated New York web design companies, you may be lost for options when choosing a company to work with. You have to know how to identify a good service provider in order to have a smooth business process of designing your site. Here are some tell-tale signs it could be a fake company:-

Be wary of a company that puts so much emphasis on the aesthetic appeal of a site. It is the functionality of a website that is more important than its visual appeal. If you have a website with a complicated navigation, perhaps because it has so many flashy images, or if you have a site whose web copy isn't optimized for the search engines, or a site that does not meet the needs of its primary target audience, then that website is as good as nothing.

Avoid a company that is not practicing search engine optimization. SEO is key to the success of a website. Therefore, you want to work with a service provider that does some tweaking for the search engines. Search engine optimization makes it easy for a site to be crawled and indexed by search engine bots and should be done in line with the optimized keywords.

A good service provider knows how to integrate vital elements of flash in HTML pages of a website. This way, the website will appear polished and well optimized for the search engines without compromising on its interactivity level, functionality, or usability.

A good service provider should be prompt in responding to client queries. You want to get a company that responds to queries in a timely manner, not five days after you send them an email inquiring about their services. This habit may continue even after you have signed a deal and contracted their services.

The service provider's website should be a reflection of the kind of service to expect. If the website has a poor navigation, broken links, poorly written content, and takes forever to load, chances are quite high that is what you will get. Always visit a company's website to see the quality of their service before hiring them.

Always read client testimonials before committing your hard-earned cash on any service provider. These testimonials and reviews are readily available on the company's official website. Look at the portfolio section of their website to see some of their success stories and to know what to expect of the service provider.

If the website doesn't have that section, this could be an indication that the testimonials were not worth publishing. If you cannot find information on the site, request the service provider for referrals and contacts of some of their past clients. If they claim not to have any contacts, or give you doctored testimonials/reviews, you might as well start looking elsewhere because this is not the New York web design company to work with.
